    Product Sales Data

    Hi,

I see that the 'best seller' function must log the number sold of each particular item... So it can produce the best seller list.
Where, however can I see these 'amount sold' figures..
Its not listed in the 'stock levels' display, and I cant see a way of producing these in a report.

Seeing as these figures are produced, I imagine there must be a way of viewing them.

The products by referrer report would give you that information, it's quite long winded though.

I believe that the best seller information is calculated on the fly rather than stored.

      Hi Jan,

Yes that report is a bit long winded.

What do you mean its done on the fly?
I revently changed the product reference of an item and was warned by actinic that I would lose all best seller data if I did this.. I presumed therefore that the data must be stored.

Its most useful data to have no ? for re-ordering etc... to know how many you've sold...

        Hi

We actually got Jan, as above at mole end to write us a report. Laid out alphabetically it lists numbers sold of all products over whatever time period we want. Maybe worth contacting her.

          Thanks, I might do that..

So theres nothing built in to actinic to simply view number of items sold ?
Despite it having stock control... bit slack that no?

It's done on the fly as in calculated when needed. A simple database query can list the 'top 10' products in the database.

The data on what's sold is stored in the orders database. That's why sales info on a product will be lost if you change the product reference. For example, lets say you change product reference A to be product reference Z. As far as the orders database is concerned, you might have sold lot's of Product A but the new product reference Z wouldn't appear in the best sellers list because there are no sales for product Z in the database.

so theres no way to simply see 'items sold'

you can see items in stock easily enough, and items suspended, and items warning given... but no items sold ?

What's wrong with the sales analysis and selecting 'more options' to set what you want it run on?

That was the reason we got the report written, it didn't cost that much to get done, I guess as she did it for me she has it on the shelf so to speak.

You have to remember that 'Items Sold' is a historical figure and will depend on the time frame, it's not just a single current figure. So Items sold in '30 days' will be different from '7 days' or

As Lee says, a sales report by product will probably show you what you're asking for.

                      thanks for the reply..

well... coz you just get pages and pages of printed reports..

thats not much use. you'd have to manually go through them reading and typing the values into another database.. taking hours... and inviting human error..

and seeing as the values are already in a database, that doesnt seem like a sensible option.

If you select the right options you won't get pages and pages - select one of the product reports and choose to see and and unselect the rest and you will get what you want (but one I made for you Nigel will be more accurate, more concise, faster and is prettier).

It could be a single current figure though... telling you how many have been sold since the shop opened... or the product was put in the catalog...

also as you say.. last 6 months and last 30 days.. would be an added bonus.

Having the number sold data would all give you an idea of how fast certain products sell, allowing you to make better orders from supplier.. staying in stock of fast selling items.

Looks like we'll have to think about that then.
Shame its not included as standard... one for the wishlist I suppose.
