Back Order Problem

Hi everyone,

I had my first attempt at the back ordering function today but I have hit a slight snag.

Customer has ordered the following:

Product A - 4 off
Product B - 2 off

Unfortunately we only have 3off Product A available exstock.

I followed the instructions to create a back order, and it has worked however I forgot to mark Product B as shipped in the original order, and now it is appearing in the back order instead. I am unable to now retrospectively mark Product B as shipped in the original transaction.

Hope that makes sense.

Any tips on how I can solve this?

You should be able to open the back order, ship item B, close and then create another backorder for just the remaining Item A.

Thanks for that. I considered it but really I am trying to find a way for it to appear on the original invoice, I know our accounts will start asking questions if I start supplying multiple invoices for the same order!

AFAIK when you create a back order, actinic splits the order into two and there is no way to put them back together again.

The only other option I can think of is to start again, create a new order from scratch with the same details and cancel the original order.

This might also get your accounts / auditing department concerned but you could renumber the original order and give the new order the original number by editing the database. Not something I'd recommend unless you know what you're doing.
