Google gives page a strange filename

If I google Antistatic Clothing I find my site at bottom of page 2 with the following address

    http://www.internet-workwear.co.uk/c...g.html%23aAS10

The page in actinic is described as Antistatic_Clothing.html

Why is it not showing as http://www.internet-workwear.co.uk/a..._clothing.html

This is the page being found via the search results page.

Google is probably indexing it because someone posted a link to the page or someone has visited it with the Google toolbar installed and allowing usage information to be sent back to google. It might do better in Google's serps because the word 'antistatic' is highlighted or because 'antistatic' appears in the url four times.

In itself it's not a problem as Google shows the highest ranking page (i.e. the best match to the search term) . If you don't like the way it looks then you'll need to block Google from indexing pages in the cgi-bin.

Personally, I'd ignore it. Some sites even optimise for this effect to get their search pages showing in Google. Maplin are one I always remember. Try a search for 'maplin leds' to see this in effect.

Because your host is case sensitive

      http://www.internet-workwear.co.uk/a..._Clothing.html

      is the correct file.

      http://www.internet-workwear.co.uk/a..._clothing.html

returns a 404 because it does not exist to your host.

That's just a typo on Chris' behalf. The links on the site are fine.
