New to new Actinic, remote working on website?

Hi, I used Actinic about 8 years ago. I've been asked by a friend to help him out with his website. We live a bit of a distance away so Im really not sure how to go about this.

He has Actinic on his machine. Im a web designer and he needs the design of the website sorted out and the layout of products tidied up. Do I have to go to his office to do this or can I do this remotely without us both over writing templates and products.

    thanks for any advice

You can use LogMeIn or similar to take over his desktop to work live, otherwise he can send you a snapshot and you make the required changes and then send back a design snapshot (or partial design snapshot) for him to import to update the design only on his live version.

ad far as im aware license is on a per site basis, although certain versions (catalog, business e.t.c) have different limitations aslong as your running the same as his and are only working on his site then it is acceptable

im sure actinic will comment if this has changed in recent years

Alternatively (I don't know the technical terms for it) a guy set up for us a DynDNS IP address, and we can use Remote Desktop to our Actinic pc from anywhere. It's much better than Logmein (which we also use) as you can set it to full screen.

Of course this means that your friend can't use his pc while you are.....

If you are just working on his design, you can use his key.

Logmein can also switch to full screen

Yes I know, but it somehow seems clearer and faster.
