    V10 Product Options Dilemma

    Hello Community,

I'm very new here and have limited experience with forums so please bare with me...

I'm currently developing a website for a fasteners and fixings company using V10 and have hit a block I can't seem to find a solution to in the help topics/knowledge base.

    An example of the problem...

    The site sells Bolts

The bolts come in different finishes, such as Z/P and Galv

These bolts also come in multiple sizes such as M1, M2, M3, M4 and so on

The problem is that I would like the customer to be able to first select which finish they would like. And then a second option for which size they require.

Also, each finish has different sizes available.

    E.G: Z/P may have M1, M2, M3 available, but Galv may only have M1, M3 available

Each size will have it's own price.

    Well there you have it!

I really am stuck here so please, any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

    regards from a newbie,
    James

I've nothing that will do what's needed.

However Actinic can do this out of the box fairly well.

Create a product with a Component. Give that Component 2 attributes for Finish and Size. Create Choices for each Attribute. Go back to the Permutation and do Fill List. Disable the invalid combinations. Set a price for each valid permutation.

You can deal with the problem of showing some combinations being unavailable if you display the 2 Attributes and their Choices in a Push Button Grid. See the help for "How do I show the options for this product as a set of add to cart buttons?".

The differing prices can be displayed (rather clumsily) by setting the Permutation layout to "Include Grid of Choice Details".

It may be possible to display the prices alongside the cart buttons in the grid but that requires very complex patching.

        Hi James

I have exactly the same problem - did you manage to find a solution?

I tried Norman's instructions but I can't get it to hide invalid permutations in the dropdown list. Whilst a grid of choice correctly displays what is available, the customer can still choose an invalid permutation.

Any help would be much appreciated.
