having spent some time trying to work out whats up i can only conclude its a perl version issue, although not 100% perhaps someone here can clarify

this server is running v 5.010001 i can run a simple helo script and and version check script but actinic wont play ball.

I have just spoken to technical support at webfusion.

they say the know about this problem with actinic software and there is a specific setting from actinic.

So now ive got to chase actinic in the morning.

He did make a change for me that he said was needed.

he swapped the php support from apache to fastcgi - I've no idea what this does, but its not made any difference.

                Yes!

neither actinic nor webfusion had any idea.

I got an IT guru in the end to look at it.

Quite simply he said. Delete the installation I have for that website now and reload a new installation but PHP must use fastCGI not apache. (I dont even know what that does)

Did it and fixed straight away.

                Whoop !

I would like to thank you again for your support in this darren!

I had a problem under cpanel when i used to host sites, i removed my clients webhosting and set it up exactly the same way and the second time it worked.

Gremlins is about the only word for these
