    Global change of variable values

I have created a user defined variable which is used to contain the filename of an image to be displayed on each site page. The orginal intention was to display a diferent image on each page.

However, would now really like to set the default value for the variable to (parent) so that a default filename can be setup for the site.

I am now faced with the task of editing each page of the site to add the new (parent) value.

Does anybody know how I can set the value each instance of this variable to a fixed value (parent) by a simpler procedure?

Delete it and then set it up again? Or change its place of setting to nothing, apply and then set it back.

      Good Ideas Lee

Unfortunately, it seems that because the variable is a "filename" type it is not possible to set initial or top level values in the variables setup.

Unless there is a way around this?

That's not true, I've done it many times myself.

          You are right.

I had to shut down Actinic and restart it to allow me to modify these values. Before that it stubbornly refused to let me set them.

Your suggestion now works just fine Lee.

          Many thanks.

            Glad this worked for you.

Interestingly we have a bulk edit product called TASK for Actinic which, amongst many other features, allows just this change to be made.
It would even allow you to set different values at different section levels.

PM me if you'd like more info.
