Sage What Version - Help Please

    Hi

I currently run Actinic V10.03 and use the current EPOS link, but i find it very slow and also it does not deal with an issue where we sell a product in a pack of two but order then in singles. So we may order 100 from a supplier but sell them in a pack of two, we can get it to work without a lot of fiddling about with free items, links etc but the invoice or packing list look terrible.

I’m looking at now using sage to look after the book keeping and it obviously has bill of materials in the system , so I’m looking at using sage to look after the stock, PO's etc.

Can anyone recommend a current version of sage that will give me these functions and obviously works with Actinic V10.03, we may go to V11 a few months after launch but it’s V10 at the moment.

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but I have not managed to bump into any other threads that cover this point.

P.S I love the order tracking option in V11, this will save a few phone calls.

    Sage 50 etc

Hello Woody. I may be able to answer part of your question. We use Actinic V10 and we use Sage 50 Accounts Pro 2011. It has to be Sage 50 to work with Actinic, and it has to be this top-of-the range version to have stock control. Sage 50 Accounts Pro 2012 is out, just, but does not yet work with Actinic as Actinic have to write new link software for this, which they are doing. So we not upgrading Sage until that has been done. Likewise the latest version of Actinic, V11, does not yet work with Sage, so we are holding off on that too.

When we have a product delivered from a supplier that we then sell in packs of more than one, for instance we receive 497 sachets from the supplier, but sell them in boxes of 7 sachets, that is 21 boxes, we then enter in Sage the quantity as 21 (not 497) boxes. If we have some individual products delivered, and sell them individually, but also in boxes of 8 and in boxes of 24, we enter the individual product quantity in Sage, and then set up the "quantity used" in the component entry for the product in Actinic.

We have a very similar system to that above. Stock is processed slightly differently.

Example: 20 kg bag of chicken feed sold by the bag or split into smaller bags.

      ordering is /20kg bag.

BOM for smaller bags is set at 0.05 for 1 kg bag, 0.12 for a 2.5kg bag and and 0.37 for a 7.5 kg bag.

Once we have downloaded the orders in the morning and marked them as allocated we then transfer the BOM for any items that need it.

This means that you order and book in in the same quantities and then can sell in any size smaller quantity (although you can only go to 2 decimal places) although the method above would work we found it made life complicated with the description not matching on invoices and purchase orders.
