Viewing website on different monitors...Can it look the same on all screens??

When I view the website on my screen it looks exactly how I want it to look however when I view it on other monitors / screens the site does not appear the same, on some screens the site appears stretched etc. Is there any way around this?

    My monitor is a:

    1.17 analog monitor
    resolution 1280 x 1024

This due to the coding of the design. Are you using a standard theme? What is the URL?

well you have the two big guns in this post but my guess is you dont have a container setup

Also if your using this size resolution, what does it look like under 1024? i bet its broken. Did you research the most popular screen sizes and design to fit the majority of these.

it looks ok to me and is centered and optimised for 1024 so my next question is

are you talking about the difference between conventional monitors and widescreen monitors. If so this is sometimes because the resolution on the pc / laptop itself has not been set up properly.

Sorry I don't have the knowledge to solve this but the following info might help. I'm using a small widescreen laptop 1280x768. It looks OK with Safari, Chrome, Opera and IE8 but Firefox is borked - the sidebars move to the centre driving the body down the page. Hopefully someone can use Firebug or something to narrow down the reason.

Please explain further with screen grabs showing the issues. Is it different in different browsers or on different size monitors?

Using that resolution, it looks 100% fine on Firefox.
