Working/Uploading from home/upgrades etc

Hello Folks,

I'm 'returning to work' albeit at home at present after an accident and need a refresher please as it's been a while . . . . .

Does it matter where I upload from? I was making changes (to single item per page from multiple) and, for example, missing a lightbox image would generate an error and a site upload would not be possible -

when i was at work physically, i could correct any errors there before attempting to upload again. and rather than take a snapshot - give it back to work and have them upload, it would be better if i could just upload it from home, are there any obvious problems with this that I'm missing?

I have imported a snapshot of the site (no orders just products) and
I spoke to support a week or so ago and we talked about going back and forth with snapshots but I didn't think about any errors until after . . . . and me uploading the changes from home would be far easier all round.

Will this work OK or am I missing something ???

Dial in remotely to the master PC using gotomypc and take away any confusion?

Yeah did look into that and also setting up a remote connection but it might be tricky getting to use the remote machine, it's still used through the day for downloading and running off the orders well as the general day to day ebay/email/everything else . . .

Do you see any problems at all in me uploading? I can't but I've been away for a few months, just want to make sure i'm not missing anything obvious.

If you keep the databases in synch regularly and only download and keep your orders in one place you should be fine.

This is exactly how we work.

I make design changes at home and upload from there. Orders are downloaded in the office.

Once a month (ish) I restore a back-up form home to the office (making sure to be very careful and only update content not orders) then back-up the office version and restore at home in full so that next time I upload, best sellers etc will be correct.

Just have to be careful which way around you do it and that no changes are made in-between.
