    On Site Wordpress Blog

Hi all - I've done a search and can't find any information that's more up to date than v8, so I'm hoping that doesn't mean I'm the only numpty . Currently on Bus v10.3 (upgrading to 11 shortly), and I'm trying to set up a Wordpress blog. I get so far as installing WP and get the following:

"The web application requires the resources which are not currently available
    Info

PHP support (>= 4.2.0) (available: 5.2.6, suitable: yes)
PHP safe mode off (available: on, suitable: no)
Database required (mysql, version >= 4.0.0) (available: 5.0.51, suitable: yes)
Disk space required: 6.39 MB (available: 81 411 MB, suitable: yes)"

I can only go back or cancel. I've contacted our host and they've said this:

"This means we will need to disable PHP safe mode on your domain before you can install it. The one thing I would ask before we do this is do you have Actinic installed on this domain? As disabling safe mode means changing the way your site runs, and this will most likely break any actinic implementation on the site."

Does anybody more enlightened know what this means? I've seen plenty of Actinic sites with WP blogs and I'm advised that on site content is always best, so is this something to worry about? Thanks in advance - Helen

If Northampton Data Centre aren't able to let you run both Actinic and a WP blog, then you might need to consider finding a host that does.

        Wordpress and Actinic

Use Actinic hosting, (not cheap but you get what you pay for-that's NOT a critcicism of Actinic) Look for host with the option to do this, they will usuually tell you in the sales blurb. It does require a particular server setup for MySQL and PHP for WP to work.
Othere than that the two will co-exist just fine on your server.

Thanks all - Hmmm, I thought moving hosts might be on the cards. Presumably what our current hosts have suggested will break Actinic? It's a bit of a hammer/nut issue as we've no problems with our current hosts and are charged a reasonable amount per month.

I'll certainly look into Actinic hosting again - no problem with paying for quality but obviously any cost increase has to be relevant. Will give them a ring later. Moving hosts is such a pain, but with upgrading to v11 shortly it might be a good time to do this if there's no other option

Thanks again everyone - much appreciated. Helen
