301 redirect setup

I searched but couldnt find my exact problem, or probably just didn't understand the examples!

I just have www.mysite.co.uk. Hosted by Actinic. I read that I should redirect the non www version to www.mysite.co.uk

I see all of the various ways of placing a 301 redirect, but I dont know where to get at the non www version of my site.

In Google webmaster it wants me to verify I own the non www version. Again I only know how to look at the www version. I am sure I am missing something simple.

You don't need to get at the non www. version of your website as your server will show the same information as is on the www. version.

What the redirects do is forward anyone who comes to the site without www. to the www. url.

So you just place the .htaccess files in your normal www. domain and they do all the work from there.
