Importing orders

Is there a way to import orders into a site, without overwriting the ones that are there?

I am merging two sites and wanted to keep the order history for both in a single location.

I tried the 'import orders' function but this overwrote those that were already in the site.

It's not possible to merge or append orders. If you just want the customer data then you can export that to csv via Marketing - Mailing List.
