    Analytics

Ever since my site went live it has had the tracking code on it, strangely though there is no information for my homepage, G says the site has had 608 visits in its first 2-3 weeks which I was happy with, but no info for the homepage is strange as I thought this would have the most visits.

Is there a setting I have not clicked or something similar?

It's a common problem with Actinic and Google Analytics on the home page.

Search the forum for "_gat is undefined"

I have not seen any error saying "gat undefined"

I just checked the code on my homepage and a page that is reporting fine and there is no difference in the analytics tracking code.

          How did you find this?

And how do I fix it Mike? Will this fix the analytics?

It's a javascript error. In IE it's usually shown when you view the page as 'Done with errors' (down in the bottom LH corner in IE8).

For some reason you don't seem to have liked Goz's reply

here's the first thread that a search would have shown you:

              When I read Goz's post I didn't think I had a gat error,

Then you replied with evidence, I have visited the thread Goz sent me to, I just didn't know how to check if the changes had worked.

I am about to make the changes, I assume this will fix the reporting for the homepage with Analytics.

You can use Firefox with Firebug and then select the console to view js errors.

The error has now cleared and your tracking should now work.

                  Ok

I followed the changes on this post

                  http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=44926

Now IE7 is showing no errors hopefully this will fix analytics as well

Unfortunately the fix has not worked, I still have no data for the homepage, I just installed firebug and set the console to show js errors and the homepage is showing an error

If you have firebug you can see the error for yourself, I don't understand what it means when I click on it

Viewing the homepage in IE7 says this

                      Line:2
                      Char:1
                      Error: Syntax error
                      Code:0
                      url:www.retro-sweets-shop.co.uk

Has anyone any ideas how to resolve this?
