A question, does anyone use Customer Codes for their customer accounts?
We use External Ref for a unique customer code for each customer account, which also serves us well in Sage and our Transporter systems TNT and GLS, which also require customer account numbers that cannot be the customers e-mail.
We found that using a customer name or e-mail for the unique account identifer did not work across all the applications we were using (usually because there was not enough space, or customers with exactly the same names), and we wanted just the one identifier for a customer account across all the systems we were using.
However, for Actinic Online, no such field exists, nothing is available for a customer code.
We have been told that we are the first people to ask for this customer code field, so my question is does anyone else out there use customer account codes, and if not, how do you cope with Sage and transport systems? Do you have different customer codes for different applications.
If we are the only ones who use this, then clearly we have to change our processes as we will not get satisfaction on this point in the future. But I would like to understand firstly if we really are so unusual.
