Web site not rendering in IE8

After much time on the phone to actinic support and also reading through many posts on the forum, I still can't get our site to render properly in IE 8
It has only recently stopped working and nothing fundamental has been changed.
Any ideas?

Get some professional help, that's not your only problem, loading 200 lines of css on every page in the head area is spectacularly bad, it reverses why css was created in the first place.

Firebug and firefox browser are good for debugging code, check using that first for obvious coding errors. It's usually an unopened or unclosed tag, some browsers deal with it, others can't. 99% of the time with modern browsers this problem is quality of coding so check all the html in the outer layout, chances are the problem is in there.

Yeah, I totally know but this is an inherited site, there is plenty of 'good housekeeping' that needs to be done on it but at the moment maintenance, SEO and keeping those orders coming in are most important.
Thanks for the heads up on the tag situation though!!
