Images missing | Location changed to local drive

Hi, I have this recurring problem where all my images disappear after upload.

There appears to be no common factor that causes it - it appears to be totally random.

I've checked the forum extensively and, yes, all my images are in the correct site directory and are in the correct format. They usually display fine.

When I view source on the bollixed site the image location is showing as; file:///C:/Documents and Settings/User/My Documents/Actinic v10/Sites/Site3/image.jpg instead of acatalog/image.jpg.

I've tried rolling back to the previous database, refreshing the site (including images) and publishing to web a few times. The problem usually corrects itself after I rollback to an old database but this time it isn't.

Does anyone have any idea why it is doing this in the first place so I can avoid it and how do I fix it without just reverting to yesterday's state as I occasionally lose a lot of work that way.

    Thanks.

Can you post an example URL?

        Thanks Duncan,

I'm just publishing yesterday's database now, as I can't afford for the site to be down for very long obviously, so the images will probably all be there soon.

It's bizarre, I have no idea why it decides to change the location to my C:/ drive. Mind you, Actinic occasionally tells me there are "8 errors" on the page but when I immediately republish without making any changes there are mysteriously no errors, haha.

I see some attempts to load non-existent files on your server. This may be confusing Actinic.

Your live pages (in acatalog) have:
          Code:
          <script type="text/javascript" src="js/prototype.js"></script>
          <script type="text/javascript" src="js/scriptaculous.js?load=effects,builder"></script>
          <script type="text/javascript" src="js/lightbox.js"></script>
          <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"></script>
          </head>
And there's no js folder inside acatalog on your server.

It's done it again. I've just inserted a shipping phase layout onto a checkout page and removed those erroneous .js lines then republished and all the images have gone again.

Have you compacted the database recently?

The spurious .js lines are still on your live site.

Ah, yeah - I've published the previous database from before I removed them. I'll try just removing those lines and see what happens. Thanks

.js lines removed and apparently no ill effects. Thanks Norman. I'll also compact the database as per Duncan and *fingers crossed* there'll be no more hiccups. Thanks for your help guys!
