Archiving order and speed

Do people always keep all old orders in Actinic, or do you periodically take a back up and delete the old ones (say over a year old)?

Would this speed Actinic up, especial across a network?

I thought there just to be a sticky post about how to speed up Sellerdeck performance over networks - could someone point in that direction as well.

We keep all of our orders but archive them into separate sites about one a year. Having less orders in the current site will speed up Sellerdeck performance.

'archive them into separate sites' - what a simple and great idea Jan. Maybe the wish list could have an action to have an additional database for archived orders per site.

Performance and capacity could probably be improved by moving the orders data into their own database, then you could introduce an archive button that moved them into a new database and allow the user to select an archived database to look at old orders - we do this with our multichannel product, it works well.

I thought that might be the case will start delete orders from the current site.

Jan One Stop Order Processing is great and we archive all old orders which works very well.

Have just done this and now have separate sites for 2008, 2009 and 2010. At the end of this year I'll make a new one for 2011.
Performance already a gazillion times better.
