We use PayPal Standard as a gateway for site payments. If a customer chooses to pay using a debit/credit card (instead of the account route) , Paypal seem to add a prefix of "+" to the telephone number which results in an error message when they submit the form. It is easy enough to remove the "+", providing you know that it is this that causes the problem. There is no indication of this in the error message.
I have spoken to PayPal who think that this is something in the cart software being passed over with the other data to Paypal. So I have searched the forum and noticed a post from 2005 that refers to this specific problem. Unfortunately, it was never resolved. Does anyone have any knowledge of this or know what needs to be done to resolve it?
