Hi, the ticket number I have is 00288525 .

For me the issue seems to be getting worse over time. Everying worked at the start but now when I even try open V11 it just crashes out straight away.

It could be you have a corrupted database file (ActinicCatalog.mdb), I had that problem but was able to cure it by simply selecting a different site to start and then deleting the faulty site and setting it up as new.

Unfortunately unless you have one of the multi site options and already have more than one site available this is not going to work for you. If you have a snapshot of your work you could delete the site folder to remove the bad data and then re-install V11, and then import from the snapshot. A bit drastic but could get you going.

I am using Win7 x64 Pro with Actinic and it has worked fine for me, although I do know of others who had problems installing V11 as an upgrade, when he installed as new and then imported his site it worked fine.

But I reinstalled V11, its crashing using the default site that it came with, so unless my original snapshot put a gremlin in the works that rules out a problem with the snapshot. And rememberI was able to say it works fine for me up until 3 weeks ago.

Sounds like a windows update perhaps.

Thanks for that. I have just checked on this issue for you. Our developers are still working on this for you, we are chasing them on this now also, as soon as we have an update we will let you know.

            Sorry for the delay.

Although I've had no problems myself (using Vista) one of my clients has been having the same problems you have related with a Windows 7 64-bit PC using V11 Catalog Client.

We also have a support ticket open, ref 289948.

Actinic crashes with a data truncated error, created a .dmp file and then can't be re-opened so we have to uninstall and reinstall each time.

I can't replicate the issue on Vista at all, with Designer or Catalog Client.

Just had an email from Actinic saying that the problem we were having seems to be due to using long meta keywords (over 150 characters) - for some reason this is causing an issue for some people on some platforms but not everyone.

We'll do some testing and report back. Actinic sent an SQL query to run which will remove all meta keywords which will at least allow someone to open the Actinic software (we were unable to even open the software after it crashed). I'm happy to forward this on if anyone needs it.

We have a number of meta keywords with more than 150 characters, did support say wether it applied to brochure or section pages or both?

Also did they mention whether the problem effects meta descriptions or is it just keywords?

If you know any of the above answers that would be great. Otherwise I will contact support again.

                  Thanks.

They didn't say but in our case it was the meta keywords only (not meta descriptions) on the new V11 Product Page

So far so good. No crashes yet since we removed the long meta keywords.

As soon as I drag the window back to the LCD, it crashes. I tried this on a widescreen external monitor, but that crashed too. According to Sony, I have the latest video drivers - and I deleted and reinstalled them just to check. I'm totally puzzled.
It appears that I have the same issue here. When using an external monitor, it runs fine. But when using the laptops wide screen, it just keeps crashing. I will take this info to support, but looks like I will use an external screen for the time being.

At least I now now a work around.

                          Windows 7 64 bit issues

Thought I'd add an update; The support team suggested I change the resolution of the laptop screen to 1024 x 768 - and this has ceased the crashing.

Not so easy to work with - and not pretty - but at least it works for now. The default resolution is 1366 x 768.

                          Very strange...

We have 2 machines accessing v10 that are on Windows 7. Although they work fine, they are very slow for two aspects: Doing a 3rd Man update takes ages, and doing a Refund via Actinic Payments also takes ages. For both these functions you get the hour glass. They work eventually, but an XP machine doing the same thing is very quick. We have not been able to get to the bottom of it.

                            Any info useful.

Im afraid Im having no joy with getting it to work. I tried setting the resolution to a different setting, i tried the beta of V11.1. And V11 is just crashing out as soon as I start the programme.

I just dont know what to do.

Actinic crashing is still a big problem for me

I had been forced to revert to a desktop (XP) machine to work on my site as working with the non default resolution on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop has been proving too difficult.

However, for some work in the evenings - I reinstalled a snapshot and tried to work on my laptop again at 1024 x 768 when default is 1366 x 768. Not ideal but able to get some stuff done (if I revert to 1366 x 768 Actinic just crashes when I select a second product).

Now today, it has started crashing at 1024 x 768 too - rendering it impossible to work on a £900 laptop that I bought primarily to work with Actinic.

This has gone on for months now - and I am frustrated and angry. Please can someone Senior at Actinic shed some light on the situation and a fix to this problem - it is clear from the forums I am not alone with this.
