    V7 to V11 upgrade?

I have about 10 v7 sites of varying sizes, and I'm now considering upgrading to V11 - so I have a few questions:
    1. Is there a way to import V7 sites into V11*?
    2. Do I still need utils like Mole's One-Stop Automation or is that all built in now?
    3. Can I import all of the orders from v7 (as I'm always having to look them up for customer queries etc)
    4. Can I run V7 and V11 at the same time on the same machine (Due to the sheer size and number I can't migrate them all in one go, so would need to do them one at a time over a month or two)
    5. Have they shortened the checkout process yet!?

*A couple of the sites are heavily customised, for instance with the 'single product page' so would I be better off just trying to start again?

You can run v7 and v11 together in the same pc whilst you get through the upgrade/redesign process.

It is possible to import your products with a bit of fudging of the import files.

I recommend you start the designs from scratch though to save any upgrade hassles. Designs have moved on now anyway.

The checkout process us one page shorter and course you will have far better marketing usability additions.

Best check with Mole End about OSA.

Orders should import ok I think but I haven't tried from v7.

Most people do still seem to need One Stop Automation, v10, v11 offer some of the functionality but not all.

If all you use OSA for is to download orders and upload to keep stock in line then you don't need it any more because v10 onwards has a stock control feature that will do that more or less.

If you do any more than you might still need it, depends on how important the extra features you need are to you.

If you are not sure still, email our support desk, saying what you use it for an we will be able to tell you if Actinic will now do all of that for you.

I tend to migrate sites up through the versions one at a time. This seems to be a realiable way for databases to upgrade correctly.
But then you do need all versions to do that! This also depends on what theme you start out with.

ok, that could be very timeconsuming then. Is there a time limit to that, or if I decide it's too much hassle to upgrade some very customised sites can I just have both running concurrently (until the v7 sites die a natural death or I get around to creating them from scratch)?

Best check with Actinic but I think the official stance is that the sites must be upgraded in a reasonable time. Just what that is of course will depend very much on your circumstances. It's certainly worth the move from v7 to v11. I would take the plunge and then work through your sites either upgrading or redesigning over your own timetable.

Jan, can you confirm if OSA v7 and OSA v11 can also run concurrently during this migration period...?
