Additional Files/Extended Information pages?

Possible a dumb question and I am missing something obvious as I usually do.

I've got a product which I would like to have a fairly considerable amount of extra information on.

Would I be right in the assumption that if I created a page with the same name as the one Actinic generates itself and add that as an additional file it would take the additional file and use that in place of the Automatically generated one?

i.e. product extended information tab is set to generate product page with a page name of "product.html" can I then do my own page called "product.html" outside of Actinic and then place that online as an additional file so it uses that instead of the generated one?

On a slightly different but related note could I do this as a means of opening a pdf file instead by manually changing the additional page name to "product.pdf" then adding the pdf file as an additional file.

Hope that makes sense. In a rush to get off and see a customer so brain is trying to do several things at once here.

The easiest way I think is to add a pdf file link into the standard product description or a fragment and have it open in a new window.

Hadn't thought of just putting an html link to it in the description.

Like I said, it's usually me not doing the obvious and going about it the long way round.
