Determine free shipping based on origin of the shipment rather than the destination?

    Hi,

www.orbodi.com is still in it's building stages, and one of the problems we have is with shipping. The site is a wholesale site ONLY, and customers need to login to the site in order to be able to see prices and make orders. If you want to try it, use 123 and 123 as test login details.
You will see that the site has 4 main sections, Wholesale Zones 1,2,3,4. In real life, these zones are different shippers, in different locations, each doing a specific range of products. Each shipper has a specification that orders over £x (amount is different for each shipper) ship free. But orders from different zones cannot be mixed by the customer to get to the magic free shipping amount. The amount must be reached from the zone where the amount applies only. Actinic allows the setting of Free shipping to a specific area based on order amount.
I need a free shipping rule based on order amount from source, and irrespective of the destination of this shipment.
    Any ideas anybody?

But the problem is harder than you're describing. If each zone (supplier) has it's own free shipping level, then what are you doing for mixed orders?

i.e. of someone orders some items from zone 1 and zone 2:

        1. Neither zone qualifies for free delivery. Do they pay shipping charges for both zones or just one? If so which one?

        2. One zone qualifies for free delivery. Does that mean they get free delivery for the other zone? or do they still have to pay shipping for that zone?

Add in all four suppliers to the mix and you have a right mess.

This could probably be done using shipping by weight ( to identify the zones and the values) and then get the shipping script to alter the shipping weight to qualify for free delivery based on a number of predefined rules.

How easy it is will depend on how complicated you're making your shipping rules.
