    Stale Lock Errors

We are getting lots of "stale lock" errors reported, which slows down the checkout process (often leaving it hanging)

Any advice on what these are? Started happening after our move to a new server cluster, but should still be the same setup as last time

    Could it be smtp-related?

    Is it a browser issue?

    What causes a stale lock?

I'm not sure if the stale lock errors are the cause of the problem or a symptom.

As I understand it, a stale lock error is when the scripts are unable to delete the lock file so they mark it as 'stale' and leave it for cleaning up later.

The kind of things I could imagine causing these would be permission problems, resource problems (CPU or disk) or anything else that might cause the scripts to time out on deleting a file. Unfortunately, none of the previous threads I could see had a solution posted which means either actinic support fixed it or the problem went away.

Probably best to contact actinic support and see if they can identify the problem.
