    Actinic Desktop's Future ?

    Hi All,

With all the push from HQ on the new online products , am i the only person thinking that any day we will receive an email stating the desktop version will cease in near future ?

Every email/tweet seems to be online is great , online is great , online is great...

We use several epos systems connected to our desktop s/w , maybe time to start looking for alternative solutions before actinic pull the carpet from under us ????

    Just a thought !!!

They're working hard on V12, so I think things are safe for quite a while. They're just excited about the new product, that's all. Some balance to emails would be an idea though, very alienating I agree.

      Noo!

The Desktop product has a very long life ahead of it! As Lee mentioned we are very busy working on v12 and are already planning v13 as well as other partnership opportunities we believe you guys will like.

Actinic Online is getting a lot of press as its a new product into a new market. Sorry if you feel its been too much.

But is the fragmenting into Offline, Online & Epos meaning the number of developers has been reduced on the desktop side to help the online side

          Hi Chris,

No, thats not the case, the number of developers on the Desktop product has actually increased during the past 12 months.

The Online product is a collaboration with Oxatis, it does not impact our capability to deliver Desktop or EPOS. In fact if anything it has increased it due to the Express product migrating to Online.

Sure, I'm a little cautious as this is in the v11 discussion. If we want to extend the topic we should do it in the right place, however:

EPOS don't have as many releases as Desktop for lots of reasons, the size of the user base is obviously one of them but its very much being developed forward. Our strategy has been one of gradual improvements rather than a major releases (al la Desktop). The roadmap contains an upcoming maintenance release we plan to make publicly available, very happy if you would like to get involved and influence its contents, just drop me a PM.
