Affiliate trackable link?

I have received this enquiry from a client - does anyone know if it can be done?

"Is there anyway or anyone that could write an add on or something for us to be able to give a 'trackable link' (like with affiliate programmes etc) to one of our trade customers to put on their website and so when their customers click on our link it will track to see if they make it through to our thank you for ordering page so we can give commission for that order to our trade customer?"

You should be able to do this with the referrer script.

I think they mean the order pages. User Definable 3 usually turns up on the Misc. tab for an order.

I guess it only appears in 'misc' if the order has come in via the link? It doesn't appear there otherwise.
