    Add to cart confirmation

We have just been approached by Trading Standards to say that we need to show the customer how much the shipping charges are going to be before they fill in all their details - apparently they are trying to bring this in as a law up here in Scotland. Is there anyway this can be shown on the Add to Cart Confirmation page? I see on the design page for this that the shipping field is there but it doesn't appear when the site is uploaded and live. Hope someone can help with this

You don't know the shipping cost until you know where it is being shipped to, the only way i can see you will get close to this is to switch the "request location early on" in business settings, without knowing that, it's impossible for it to know at that stage.

that's what I've been trying to tell them but they just can't get it into their heads. Seemingly they have had loads of complaints (about a lot of sites) where the customer has to fill in their details before getting shipping costs. I explained about them being unable to find out until they decided whether they wanted UK standard parcel; first class or Express - but they can't see it! Like hitting your head against a brick wall! I'll try your suggestion and see what that does but I am loathe to do anything for them being this bleedin' picky.

Put up a delivery page on the site with details and costs, they can find out without doing anything then and this is highly recommended nowadays anyway.
