    Facebook Mash in development

    Hi Chaps,

I'm looking at producing a link from Actinic Desktop to Facebook and have so far found three apps that looking interesting :

Storefront social - lists products and links to Actinic cart for checkout, charges by monthly subscription

Moonfruit - fully functional facebook / mobile shop, customers pay with paypal, free version for small shops. monthly payments above.

Payvment - fully functional facebook shop, customers pay with paypal, 1 shop free, unlimited proucts, charges for additional or enhanced shops.

Does anyone use these, or use any other facebook shop apps.

    Cheers,
    Jan Strassen, Mole End

Don't know any of these, but if you do the work, I'll be there like a big dog!

The key differences are the way in which you pay for the facebook app (I prefer the free ones ...) and the way in which customers pay for their products, there might also be issues with representing options for products.

I will definately implement Storefront Social because firstly, I have almost completed it and secondly I like the fact that orders come into your standard Actinic store and so are easy to process but I'm not sure about the other two.

I think that Actinic online uses an adaptation of storefront social but that it's included for free as part of your monthly subscription to Actinic and so doesn't include extra charges at the facebook end, which is nice.

Here is a preview of what you can do, I've uploaded my mole end site to facebook through storefront social and my facebook mash (which is still in development).

        https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mole-...p_369666098814

storefront social doesn't allow options and so I have set it so that the buy now button goes to the product page, for any products that don't have options however, clicking on buy now will put the product into the shopping cart.

I think that it's pretty good.

PS: While you are admiring my pretty facebook shop, login to facebook and like mole end :-)

        Regards,

I have updated my mole end store now, fixed up some ordering issues and changed my buy now button name because most of my products have options and so don't go to the cart.

The previous uploaded also gave a secure content warning because the images used http, so I have updated it to be https to get rid of that warning.

          Cheers,

My mobile Facebook app doesn't show a store button. Do stores only work in the browser?

                Hi Duncan,

It seems to be that way, I added a link to the previous message that went straight to the shop but it didn't go there, it just went to main twitter page.

I'll contact support, it's a pretty big failing, might have to change the facebook shop type. I liked this one though because it linked through to the main shop rather than processing order seperately.

                Regards,

                  Hi Jan,

Do either of the other two offer product options as this would make it more appealing for us?

                    Hi Buzby,

I have been looking into this. Payvment does but does not have an import for the options, I have asked if they could make an XMl format importable. At the moment, when the product has options the link goes to the product page, when there are no options the product is put straight into the cart.

                    Regards,
                    Jan Strassen, Mole End

                      Which App?

Storefront Social max number of products is 1000 so no good for me really. Like the look of Payvment though....

Does it bother you that the checkout is through paypal for payvment? The reason I liked storefront social is because it brings you back to your Actinic site for purchase and so you orders stay in one place.

Yes coming back to the actinic site would be my preference too.

My problem with Storefront Social is that you are limited to 1000 products maximum. I don't mind about Paypal -in fact I like it!
