Layout problems

As an Actinic user since 2001 it's embarrassing that i'm struggling with what seems 'basic' issues

I've read and re-read the v11 user guide but cannot get the following problems sorted and wondered if anyone can shed any light?

I cannot get each product to have it's own 'add to cart' option and the 'add selection to cart' button remains.

When a SPP is visited, the LHS navigation headed "Pirate Party Stuff" is missing and should appear as on the homepage.

I'm guessing i've missed something glaringly obvious but a point in the right direction would be appreciated.

1. 'Single add to cart' setting is set on the parent section, make sure you have changed it on there, probably need to change it back to 'use parent'.

2. This sounds like a fundamental problem with the coding, either the code for the menu is missing from the layout used for product pages or there is a filter of some sort on it, which prevents it from showing on product pages, a blockif would be the culprit i suspect.
