Product Image not re-uploading when file updated

We're having a slight problem with Sellerdeck v11.

If we have created a product and uploaded it (together with image) then it shows OK.

We then update the image on our system for a newer one *with the same filename* but it obviously has a newer date/time stamp.

For some reason SellerDeck isn't recognising this and consequently isn't re-uploading the revised image.

Has anyone else come across this before? I would have thought that part of the upload check process would be to look for newer images and if different from that on the server then upload the newer one?

    Is this a bug?
    Thanks

Problems of this type are usually cured by a refresh.

      thanks for the response...

trouble is that a site refresh takes ~ 1-2 hours and ties Actinic up for all of that time

We can't afford to do that every time we change an image... is it worth submitting a bug report?
      Thanks

Are you sure this isn't a browser caching issue?

Absolutely - this is the first thing I checked.

We're using your multi image add on and weirdly, the thumbnail it creates for the original image is uploading correctly when the image file is updated but the main image is not.

Actinic (as was) originated in the days of slow dial-up modems and significant effort was put into making sure that the upload phase did not upload files that were already on the server.

There's a FileList (or similar name) table in the database that lists each file, its MD5 and creation date. Files should be checked against that and re-uploaded if they've changed.

My add-ons only re-create the extra images if the source image or size / quality parameters have changed. After that the same Actinic file checking is responsible for their uploading.

Another thing that comes to mind is perhaps a discrepancy between the server time and the PC time. If they're an hour or two different and you change a file within that period, the checker may not see the new file as actually being newer.

No answers in the above - but perhaps food for thought.

              thanks for the reply Norman...

The images that are being replaced are all significantly older than an hour or two - most if not all are months / years older.

Can anyone test to see whether this happens on a vanilla install (the Actinic default images will certainly be datestamped older than an hour or so ago)
              Thanks

A temporary fix is to FTP the new images up and overwrite...

I'm just wondering if it's an actinic caching issue. i.e. if you preview the page before doing an upload, does this force actinic to update it's list of files and recognise the new image file?

Try compacting the database - this sorts out a multitude of problems like this.

@Andy Hi there - we compact the databases every other day so pretty sure it's not that...

@Mike Testing the preview prior to upload today so will let you know...
                      Thanks
