link to section from CGI

Just a quick one.
I need to link to a section for promotional reasons and noticed that linking directly to the page makes a logged in user log out.
I understand that the user session data is carried through using the cgi scripts so i assume i need to link to these sections via a CGI link to stop the user being logged out.
Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers this helps. Did a search myself but the most relevant item that came up was an unanswered post in 2002 which was made by a colleague of mine
