Add two lines to confirmation email

I would like to add two lines to the confirmation message that is automatically sent when a order is placed

Do you mean the Catalogue Order Received email, or the one the customer gets?

Try: Design Tab, then Select Page Type => either of Customer Email or Order Received Email. I think it's the first in your case.
