I'm preparing to import a catalogue file that has a number of duplicates in it, and I'm unsure what to do about the data that goes with duplicates. In the case of stock there can only be one figure, so logically you would think the software would take the figure from the original product, and it seems wrong to enter the same figure for all the duplicates. If I left the field blank in the duplicate entries can I assume that S'deck would pick it up from the original? (And, the corollary, I assume that as things sell the stock figure in the duplicate section will be in sync with the original).
The same question applies to all the other data, but the logic seems less certain. I can imagine that someone might want, for example, a different Full Description for a duplicate. I don't, as it happens. At the moment what I'm doing is copying all data from originals to the duplicates, but that seems a little shaky too, because things can go wrong in copying, so what happens if there's a conflict? What happens if I have 100 pairs of Ladies' Wellingtons under Boots and 1000 under Ladies?
Not that that's likely, for a music publisher ....
