    Google Data Feed - weight.

Apologies if there is an article but I have been searching on and off the last couple days and cannot find anything using the forum search.

I have started looking at our Marketing Feed in Google. Under 'products' is is showing that none have been inserted in to shopping and have found that 'weight' is not being included in the file I am exporting from SellerDeck (11.0.5), shipping by weight has been setup in our Merchant Account.

These are the Headers being exported by SellerDeck:
link title description price image_link id upc brand availability mpn isbn condition google_product_category ean
I thought weight would be built in to the software to export as default?

    Thanks in advance.

AFAIK there is no access to the Standard Variable for Shipping Weight.

Which leaves you a few options (in order of simplicity and timescales):

    1. Use the mole end mash. See http://community.sellerdeck.com/showthread.php?t=43495

    2. Create your own variable and use that.

    3. Ask Sellerdeck to make the variable visible in the Variables Library so you can set it to be included in the Google product feed.

      Hi Mike,
      thanks for the reply.

      1. Had already looked at Mole end but seemed odd that Sellerdeck doesn't do this by default, but I suspect this may have to be the route.
      2. I tried a variable but enless I can make it equal the weight entered in the Details tab that's a no go as it would double up the entry after the initial update of all products. It would also be open to error having 2 places to enter it.
      3. I'll put a support request in but since we have no maintenance I would image it taking a while to get a reply.

      Thanks again.
      John.

I contacted support about this recently as I had the same issue. I tried switching it on in Access (as per support instructions) but that didn't work and so they said to create a new field duplicating that data and exporting that out.

Use Mole End if you have lots of products!

The variable ShippingWeight reflects the entry in Product Details / Details / Weight in Kg. It certainly displays on Product Layouts if used there.

Not sure if it can be incorporated into the feed generation as I don't use that.

the trouble is that the variable ShippingWeight doesn't appear in the variable library so you can't tick the box to include it in the Google product feed.

It should be possible to do it from within the database but I'm sure it will take a bit of playing to make sure it gets set in all the right places.

It certainly looks as if it can be done from within the database. I had a quick look at altering the variable settings for ShippingWeight and could get it to create the column in the Google product feed but for some reason it hadn't populated it with the test values I'd entered.

Ideally, I was trying to change the setting so it would appear in the Variable library as then the settings could be set there.

Can you post the instructions Sellerdeck gave as that's probably a good starting point.

I have been talking with Support via email and since we do not have a support contract this is protracting over a number of days.

Mike you are correct, you can enable it in the Database Variables table to appear in the Merchant File (although it has the wrong parameter name- shippingweight instead of shipping_weight) and yes it does not export any data so useless.

I have setup my own variable 'shipping_weight' and will be knocking up a short sql script to populate my variable with the data from the built in shipping weight variable once sellerdeck have told me which tables hold the data. To manually do this would take months and I could potentially schedule this script to run every evening.

If this comes off I will post my script.

With the Mole End mash, you can refer a google setting to a variable in the database, for instance i have product category setup and use it against the two Google requirements in that area, likewise with MPN and EAN, i only fill out one, but map both to the same field in database.

I've had a look for you. The Shipping Weight value is stored in the ShippingOpaqueData field in the Product table.

If you already have the data in sellerdeck. Would it not be easier just to run your SQL query in excel to create and populate the column in your google product feed.
