Using referrer.pl with Paypal

I'm just setting up an advertising campaign using referrer.pl to track purchases and I came across this in the V11 Advanced User Guide:

NB this script is not compatible with using PayPal as a Payment Method.

Does anyone know what this is about? Is there actually a problem with using referrer.pl and Paypal or do they maybe mean paypal pro? or are they just confused.

i will be testing soon but thought I'd ask in case anyone knew what was going on and could save me from wasting time on it.

So, this is an odd one.

I've placed a test order using referrer.pl and paying with paypal. The order went through without any problems and the referrer text came through fine on the order.

The sales report for 'transactions by Referrer' also works and separates out the test sale. (Though it's a shame you have to wade through pages of '<none>' first to get to the real ones.)

So what is the problem that Sellerdeck are warning us about? Anyone know?
