    Dreamweaver extensions installation

    Hi Guys

Just trying out V8 and attempting to install the DW ext.

    Keep getting the message
    "requires Dreamweaver MX or greater"

    And it does not install?

We run DW version 8, is this intentional or a bit of a bug?

    Cheers

MX and above is a requirement to use the DW exts in Actinic v8 as far as we know.

Afraid so, but in all fairness to Actinic, MX was released (I think) in or around May 2002, so a good 4 years old now (dont burn me if got it wrong - but sure it was around then)....

So whilst many may be happy continuing with the none MX versions, to get the best connections and all that between Actinic and DW, Actinic have to build to cover the present and then back track some through different versions or work to certain feature limits of DW, so 4 years back seems fair enough to me...

Darren - Dreamweaver 8 is the latest version and is part of studio 8, and supersedes MX - I loaded the extension yesterday no problem. What does it say if you click on "about Dreamweaver" in DW help? If it says copyright 1997-2005 you shouldn't have a problem. Mark H.

I must RT Q - missed you were on v8 - how I missed it hmm dunno, sorry.

100% 8 is newer than MX, so it should work as Mark says - apols for missing that version number.

How odd - we use DW 8 in our training suite, and I've installed v8 with it a number of times with no problems.

If you continue to get problems, please report them to v8beta@actinic.co.uk

Daren - have you still got an old version (pre MX) of DW installed as well - people often do - I don't know if this would cause the problem but might be worth a look.

Chris - does the error message mean:

You don't have DW, but you need it and it needs to be at least MX

                or

You do have DW, but it is pre MX

Are there two different messages for these situations? This might narrow down the problem

                  Hi Guys

                  Thanks for the help.

No earlier version is on the machine, tried again without success.

                  The copyright is 1997-2005 also.

Have emailed the Beta team Chris.

ps...Techno, hope Ian did not slap you too hard

                  Regards

Well that rules that out as a potential problem then!

                        Hi Mark

                        Sorted out the error.

It appears that even though you can have multi versions of act running on 1 machine, you cannot (or I can't anyway) have the extensions installed in dw for more than one.

Once I switched off ext.v 1.0.8 for Act V7 it installed straight away...

Great stuff, now release, release, release.....

                        Regards

                          Hi,

Just to let you know that the latest v8 beta (downloadable from www.actinic.co.uk/v8) will allow earlier versions of the dreamweaver plug-in to co-exist with the v8 one.
