upgrading procedure

what is the correct upgrade procedure for V8.

assuming I've installed it and got one site working, I now want to upgrade an addtional v7 or v6 site, whats the best way to do this?

export a snapshot and import, export a hierarchical csv file?

I have imported several snapshots and touch wood they have all worked The only problems I have had is with the css (discussed in other threads) and one of Normans scripts (he is making it V8 as we speak). These were all sites created from clean themes in V7.
