    Autogenerate customer accounts?

Hi... we are excited about upgrading from V7 Catalog to V8 Catalog to get the abiltity to have customer accounts separate from the orders.

but.... is there anyway we can automatically generate our customer accounts? We have thousands of customers and an order database which goes back to 2003.

To walk through all the orders and manually create accounts will be VERY time consuming.

I would suggest only giving accounts for people who have ordered in the last year or so - otherwise people may not remember who you are.

But you can just go through each order and click the 'Create Customer Account' button. This fills in most of the fields for you automatically except that you need to assign a password to each buyer.

      thanks for replying, Chris...

but even just doign the orders for one year by hand will give us repetitive stress symptoms.

We deal with over 150 orders each week, so it would be really, really nice if there were an automated way to create all the customer accounts for a given date range.

I'm sure that we won't be your only customers who want to make use of this feature.

Totally understand your problem, but there's no way to do this in Actinic. If you use Actinic Link for Sage, you can create accounts in Sage when you transfer orders, and then re-import those customer accounts back into Actinic. But unfortunately there is no similar ability just in Actinic.
