    Actinic opening from Dreamweaver issue

I'm a web designer for a company that develops sites mostly using Actinic but sometimes just using Dreamweaver.

I'm running Actinic 8.0.0.0.0.0.0 GIKA and Dreamweaver 8.0.2.

    DW was installed first.

During the Actininc v8 installation the DW extension was installed without any problems. The extension seems to work fine, I've had no issues so far, the problem is when I am using DW to work on a non-Actinic site I click on a DW PHP server behavior created link and this opens Actinic v8. The last Actininc site I was working on is displayed.

It's not a huge problem as it doesn't affect me working on the site, just annoying that when I want to edit these links in DW, Actinic wants to crash the party. Usually it's fine because once Actinic has taken focus I can go back to DW and continue working but every now and then Actinic will not want to leave. My taskbar becomes inactive so I have to Alt-Tab back to DW but then no DW panels respond to mouse clicks.

The solution is to hit Alt-Ctrl-Del, exit both apps and reboot. Starting DW again and clicking on any PHP server behavior just repeats the error, but if I reboot I sometimes get lucky and it doesn't freeze the task bar.

I've found if I disable the extension none of these problems occur but the obviously I have to enable it when I want to use DW and Actinic.

    Any ideas/solutions?

This is a bug I have reported to Actinic.

Yep - the bug that Malcolm found was in the PayPal extensions for Dreamweaver supplied by 'WebAssist.com'. It flagged up a weird bug in the Dreamweaver extensions that meant that Actinic was started even though the tag you have clicked on isn't an Actinic one.

I'm testing the fix to this bug tomorrow. I'll also check how it works with PHP extensions now.

        Hi guys

I've just been testing the *.mxp file that will ship with v8.0.1 and I was able to add a new paypal 'buy now' button and click on it in the HTML without Actinic starting. So it looks like the issue is fixed (unless there are some other tests you would like me to try)

That should do it - fingers crossed

            Hi

I am also having the same problem. (Designer V8.0.0.0.0.0.GIKA - DW 8) I have no Paypal extensions installed, but every time i click on a PHP server behavior up opens Actinic.

I'm trying to update a site which uses lots of php includes at the moment and my Actinic must have opened 30 times in the last 30 mins!

If I try to open the Actinic menu in DW then this also opens Actinic before it shows me the Actinic options

            Is there a fix/workaround yet?

            Thanks
            Chris

You need to download the latest version of V8 where the problem has been fixed.

The latest online installer is 8.0.0.0.0.0.GIKA - the same as I am already using

Mine is the same and I do not have the problem. I was the one who originally reported the bug and as far as I am aware it has been fixed.

Your very lucky then - this is driving me mad!
I have submitted a support enquiry and I hear that 8.0.1 will be along very soon.

lets hope one of these can fix it.

I've just updated mine to 8.0.1, updated all my sites, and it's still opening up Actinic when ever I click on any php include in DW.

So I would have to say that maybe it isn't fixed.

No longer an issue on my system

I've updated to 8.0.1 this bug/quirk no longer occurs for me.

I'm not sure if this helps, but I uninstalled Actinic 8.0 and removed the extension in Macromedia Extension Manager, then installed 8.0.1 and the extension again.

I found that the extension is not automatically removed when uninstalling Actininc (which kinda makes sense I guess).

                            So far so good.

Sorry about the delay. another issue meant reinstalling my OS (be careful dual booting XP/Vista RC1 !)

                              It now works fine

                              Regards
