    site licesce

Could some please explain if this is allowed.

I have site a with a full version of version 8 business. I decide that I no longer want to use v8 business on site a and and wish to use it on a new site called site b

Is this allowed or is the licence per site not per installation ??

    The licence is per site.

It would be best to call Actinic and explain what you want to do and get a response direct from them.

It is per site - if you want to move from abc.com to xyz.com you will need a new license - this is to prevent piracy as the upload is checked against the Atcinic servers to check the URL against the known site database

I reckon it was a photo finish. We'll have to ask Chris to add seconds onto the posting time stamp.

The finishing positions are by the size of reply ... Malcolm going for brevity is cheating in my book

The seconds would help us decide who won the office bet

                first one to post wins.....

oops, slightly off topic, I agree with the above

I spoke to sales yesterday and was told that their was no problem in moving my site from site-a.com to site-b.com and I did not need to inform them.

The only thing was I was not allowed to have acinic running on 2 sites so I would have to remove actinic from site-a.com

Is this right after reading what jont said ???

The last thing i want is my retail site to go down !!!!

If that is what sales are telling you then that must be correct and has changed from v7.

Previously the licence was registered to a specific domain and it would be checked against the Actinic server to see if it matched. It now must probably just check to see if only 1 instance of the licence is in use on the web.

There are also SEO issues concerned if moving domain names - ensure you have the correct re-directs set in place to keep all the good rankings in place and cached pages in browsers / bookmarks
