Designer Design alterations

Hi!

What sort of documentation does designer come with on how to radically change the design of the shop? I have the trial and find it quite confusing and have had little success so far. Is there a manual? Tutorials? Or is there a book?

Hi there

The first thing you need to do before creating a custom design is have a read of the Getting Started Guide ('Help | Starter Guide') which has a section on Design. Basically, before creating a completely custom Actinic store design, it is worthwhile learning about how Actinic's system of layouts, variables, layout selectors, conditions and lists all work together to create the current store pages. Once you do that, you will be able to be able to create your own layouts in a more informed way.

THe most important layout to understand is the overall page layout - this is the layout that goes around the top of the design (and the sides and bottom) and contains all the consistent branding and navigation. You are going to need to customise this. You can either customise it in Actinic by selecting it in the 'Design' tab and editing the HTML, or if you use Dreamweaver you can create a completely custom design from scratch, and register that as your overall page layout. Instructions for this are in the Getting Started Guide.
