    Actinic not starting every time

    Hi guys,

    Just installed Actinic v8 to try it out alongside Developer v7 (separate installation not upgrade). Now whenever I try to start Actinic as a Business evaluation, 9 times out of 10 it generates a 'catalog.exe has generated errors .....' and bombs out. On the odd occassion it will start just fine - very weird ? I've tried uninstalling it and deleting the folders which remained and then reinstalling it, but to no avail.

    Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you overcome it ?

    This should never happen, at a guess I would say that there was something wrong with your database. I would suggest that you register a support ticket with Actinic (by phone if you have cover by email if you don't) and see if they can sort it out.

      Hi Jan,

      Thanks for the info. I've just compacted the database and all now seems to be working as it should although having done a straight installation from the download file I wouldn't have though the database needed compacting !

      Still, at least it's working and I can give it a whirl.

        Actinic uses Microsoft access as it's database, access can at times be a little fragile, the actinic database that is installed is freshly compacted and repaired so you must have been unlucky and had something nasty happen somewhere along the way.

        Glad it is sorted though.
