I have setup a site using the evaluation version of Actinic catalog version 8
I will buy the product if I can get it to work
I seem to have one problem that is very important to my business to get working...
my site is www.parcel2ship.co.uk
My host: www.servage.net
Problem: email won't send to me and customers after placing an order
(network settings wizard is rejecting the SMTP server)
POP server: srv3-pop3.servage.net
SMTP server: smtp1.servage.net
I have tested these by setting up an account in Outlook Express
settings:
pop3 : srv3-pop3.servage.net
smtp : smtp1.servage.net
Incoming mail server:Account name: info@parcel2ship.co.uk
Password: ********
Remember password: TICKED
Log on using Secure Password Authentication: NOT TICKED
Outgoing mail server:
My server requires authentication: TICKED
Account name: info@parcel2ship.co.uk
Password: ********
Remember password: TICKED
Log on using Secure Password Authentication: NOT TICKED
This receives and sends mail no problem - seemingly showing smtp server works ok
In Actinic on Advanced Network Setup page
aginst the email settings box I have successfully setup:
SMTP Server: srv3-pop3.servage.net
Username and password required: NOT TICKED
This sends a test email successfully to me when I click on the Test button
Also the contact us form works and emails us successfully
HOWEVER
this is using the POP3 server and no authentication????
I do not understand why this works
[it does not work with the SMTP server entered in the box with or without username and password]
[I have also searched these forums and tried localhost to no avail]
however it does work with the pop3 server, so...
when I click on the Wizard... button I get to the page asking if I want an email sent to me and one sent to the customer following an order
I check these two tick boxes
and
it fails to work (HTTP request fails)
whether I enter:
the pop3 server
the smtp server
either of these with or without username and password
(again outlook express works with these settings)
I can't see this is servage as the smtp server does work with outlook express
also
if Actinic can send an email with one set of settings on one page
why won't the same settings work on the other page?
Are the two pages doing different email functions
and
finally why doesn't it use "sendmail"
or does the contact us page use sendmail as it seems to work with incorrect settings that shouldn't work?
