nice php effects, can they be intergrated

Hi,
Currently on a the actinic designer course (going well).
The feature to use php seems really useful.
I have attached a couple of php snippets which I use on sites such as:

Could these be intergrated to select from a range of fragments, products etc.

Suggest you look at the site above to see what I'm getting at. Random products on right side and random product feature on home page.

Anyone can use them if they are of use.
