background page colours

I've upgraded to V8 and imported the V7 snapshots for my sites.
The first one im working on seems to have worked prety good apart from a few details.
The page background colours were origally white but are now grey.
I've looked at the templates that run the pages which show a white background in Dreamweaver.
I've tried changing the actinic.css and adding a style in the templates, but to no avail.
Is there another way to change the page background colours?

Settings | Site options | General | Appearance Settings, scroll right to the bottom to see if 'Store is using a background color (not an image)' is set to 'True'. If it is 'True' then in Design | Themes | Advanced Theme Configuration | Color Scheme, set the colour against 'Background'.
