Another day another head scratcher..

When setting up section lists you can set the column count for the first row to a different value to that of the second and subsequent rows.

What I want to do is use a similar setup for products too yet I can only see an option to change the number of columns for each product row, not a seperate option that deals with the first row only.

Anyone come up with a solution for this or am i clutching at straws here?

If you navigate to the 'Design' tab and then click on a product in the preview, you should see the code in the 'Layout code' view below.

Click on the yellow swirl with an upwards arrow mark till you reach the 'Product Layout', right at the top you should see 'Click here to Edit List Layout Settings', click and in the resulting window, on teh 'Edit Rows and Columns' tab and activate the first row.

I tried with a value of just 1 and set product col count to 2...in the books section, this results in the first product appearing on its own in the first row and the other 2 books in the second row. You can play with this to get your settings.
