Actinic v8 program interface has completely crashed

I was working on my v8 site and I selected Business settings from the Settings pull-down menu.

BANG! The program completely froze and looked like a GIF image of the Actinic program stuck in the middle of my screen. I couldn't select anything or move or close the window.

All my other programs are working as normal. I bring up the task manager (CTRL_ALT-DEL) and see the program status as running.

I rebooted to make sure this was reproducible - it is - I got the same again and then called Actinic support.

The program is running and is not obeying the Windows O/S.

I called support and they have asked me to compact the database. I will try that now.

I compacted the shipping and catalog databases and...

    ...it still does it.

      Hi Nigel

Sorry to hear that you have experienced difficulties with your Actinic site. I hope that solution that Actinic Support gave you works out for you - if not, I'm sure there is a solution to this. Certainly I have never seen this error message before with Actinic, and I can assure you that this is not a general problem with the software - but a specific issue with a specific cause.

We would never have released Actinic v8 if we did not feel it was suitable for production sites - and production sites are already up and running succesfully using the software.

          Hi Nigel

Is it a clean install or an upgrade?

What is your RAM on the local machine?

          Just thinking out loud...

OK - just seen your second message. I think a support technician needs to look at your database to see what has happened. Please get back to the technician you spoke to and they will give you details to send a snapshot to them.
