Applying a handling charge to a single item

We wish to sell gift vouchers and apply a handling charge of 50p to each order for vouchers. I have added a component to the product but have two issues:

    1. When I enter the price for the component, the price field always reverts back to £0.00. (I have made the pricing model "Sum of Product and Component Prices" on the gift voucher product itself). Can anyone shed any light on this? However, if I use an associated product as a component, that works fine?

    2. Vouchers are available in denominations of £1 with a minimum purchase of £5 - however I have found that the component charge is multiplied by the number of vouchers ordered. IE, £10 of vouchers are ordered, handling charge becomes £5! All I'm trying to achieve is a one-off fee of 50p per order.

All other products on our site include a postage charge so we aren't actually using the 'shipping charges'.

I hope this makes sense and someone is able to help me, please! I'm in grave danger of pulling my hair out

what are you using for the gift vouchers, Component prices or a seperate product going through the component

The voucher itself is setup as a product priced at £1 each with a component named "inc handling charge" - it is this component that reverts to £0.00 despite what I enter in the price field.

I can use an associated product and that works fine - but - am unable to fix the quantity of the handling charge as 1 regardless of the number of vouchers ordered!

The only thing I can recommend is to setup shipping by weight and then set all your products apart from the vouchers to have a weight of '0'.

Then set up a default shipping charge - which you can call 'Voucher Handling Charge' with the following settings:

          Weight | Cost
          0 | £0.00
          1 | £0.50

Then set the weight of the vouchers as being 0.01 or something. That way, no matter how many vouchers are included with the order, the shipping/handling charge will not be any more than 50p.

By the way - I'm able to enter a price fine within the 'Prices' tab of a component. It's strange your's kept reverting to zero.

I have just set up a test product with a test component - entered the component price as £1 and all appeared ok. BUT... when I subsequently look at the component the price has reverted to zero. I suspect I'm doing something silly and will review later
