Hi everyone,

These questions are probably very stupid but please bear with me.

I'm currently using Developer V7.06 at the moment and at some point this week we will be upgrading to V.8.

I noticed on the Actinic site that if you use Developer then this has been replaced by Actinic Designer and Actinic Business.

What I can't get my head around is that at the moment that in the Developer software we create, test and publishes the site ready for clients to use in the old Business V7 software.

With Actinic Designer is this still the case?, or do we simply create the look, feel and functionality and then have to deploy the site over to Business now to test out the functionality? Also can Designer be used alone to manage a site, but with limited functionality?

Another question is if you are a developer subscriber will we receive Actinic Designer and Business or only Designer?

Any responses would be appreciated.

With designer you can still design and update the site, where the client would then need the minimum of the Client version of Catalog or Business for order downloads and the like or for them to maintain the site (but not the design).

As a developer subscriber then the path would be Actinic Business Multi Site (which is the v8 replacement for Developer).

To add further clarification.

Designer can create websites (design themes and add products), but can not download or process orders.

Actinic Business Multi Site can create websites (design themes and add products) and also operate websites, downloading and processing the orders.

If all you do is design for others to use, you only require designer, each customer would need to buy either a Client version (to process the orders and maintain the site) or a Full version (to be able to continue the development on their own).

If you also maintain sites, then you need Business Multi-Site to get the download and process order functionality which is missing from Designer.
