    Hi all

I have been away from the forums for a while but I am now in the process of upgrading to v8. I have hit some installation problems with the network test and I noticed the Installation forum is closed.?

    Is this correct

    Welcome back!

The board has a new name http://community.actinic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9 Initial Web Site / Network Configuration - but might be better to post your issues here as they relate to v8.

        upload problems

Been having awful problems with uploading to my hosting company (LCN) using settings that i had previously used for another of my web sites. After a few frustrating days and numerous checking of paths, I have cancelled my hosting with them and decided to move over to Pinbrook.

I have checked absolutely everything and even got them to specify the all the settings via the text file which comes with Actinic but to no avail so I have given up with them.

        these WERE my settings

        HTTPPROXYMODE 0
        HTTPPROXYADDRESS
        HTTPPROXYPORT 80
        HTTPPROXYUSER
        HTTPPROXYPASSWORD
        FTPPROXYMODE 0
        FTPPROXYADDRESS
        FTPPROXYPORT 21
        FTPPROXYUSER
        FTPPROXYPASSWORD
        SCRIPTID 1
        SCRIPTEXT .pl
        SMTPHOST mail.btinternet.com
        WEBSITEURL http://www.chromatique.co.uk
        IGNOREPASSIVEERRORS true
        USERELATIVECGIURLS false
        PATHTOPERL /usr/bin/perl
        USEENHANCEFTP true
        FTPCLIENTTIMEOUT 15000
        FTPRETRYDELAY 3000
        FTPSILENT false
        FTPMAXRETRIES 3
        FTPCONNECTTIMEOUT 25000
        SMTPAUTHREQUIRED true
        SMTPUSERNAME xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        SMTPPASSWORD xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        CATALOGURL http://www.chromatique.co.uk/acatalog/
        CGIBINURL http://www.chromatique.co.uk/CGI-bin/
        PATHFROMCGITOCATALOG ../acatalog/
        CODEBASE ./
        FTPHOST www.chromatique.co.uk
        FTPUSERNAME xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        FTPPASSWORD xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        PATHTOCGIBIN /web/CGI-bin/
        USEPASSIVEFTP true
        FTPPATHFROMCGITOCATALOG

They were also insisting that the path to perl should be
        #!/usr/bin/perl/
and the path to cgibin shoul NOT have a forward slash at the end, but this is not possible with the Actinic software ?.

Either way every time I spoke to somebody they contradicted the previous advice given by them.

If I understand your post correctly, you did have problems, but you have resolved them by moving to pinbrook hosting.

There are two things in the settings that it might be worth checking with pinbrook before you try to upload there.

The use of capitals in the cgi-bin foldername in PATHTOCGI (could be a case-sensitive setting) and the use of btinternet as the mail server setting.

BTW on the perl setting, I have successfully uploaded sites both with and without the hashbang (#!) though strictly speaking these are not supposed to be necessary.

            Upload probs

Yes I tried both cgi-bin and CGI-bin on the LCN servers but no help.

I have not uploaded to Pinbrook yet but I do not expect any problems there.

I think my existing LCN providers have changed something there end as my old settings (with revised domain names) did not work.

            Thanks

CGIBIN and test site upload problems

                Hi chaps,

I'm having a similar problem as above.

My aim: To upload a v8 test site to a second folder on our server for testing etc before changing over completely to v8.

I've entered the network settings as per knowledge base, however i cannot seem to get it to work.

                the error i get is
Actinic is not able to run the CGI scripts on the server. It appears as if the scripts are not installed. The most likely cause is that you have an incorrect CGI-BIN URL. If you've never uploaded the site, then you should do it before a download of orders. If you've uploaded the site ever, then Run Web | Configure Web Site Details... to review your web site configuration.

Probably got one dot or something in the wrong place, any pointers?

                current settings are ( v8)
                Catalogue URL - http://www.10outof10.co.uk/acatalog2/
                CGI-BIN URL - http://www.10outof10.co.uk/cgibin/
                Codebase - ./
                Path from CGI-BIN to catalogue - ../acatalog2/acatalog/
                Path to CGIBIN - /public_html/cgibin/
Path from CGIBIN to FTP directory - /public_html/acatalog2/acatalog/
                Perl IG 2

Any comments or pointers most welcome. as the info i've found in the forum from previous posts aren't seeming to help

                Thanks

Tell us who your hosts are. What sort of hosting it is, e.g. Windows / Linux, etc. Also Export your network settings to a text file (Web / Network Setup / Export) and post it too (obscure passwords though). Until then we haven't enough information to help.
